Change your University

University fees are so high – It can take time to settle into your course and university life. students feel they want to transfer to another course, or a different university or college. There is a lot to consider when making your decision. If you think the university or college where you are studying is not quite right for you. It is possible to transfer onto a different university or college.

International students in Australia have the option to change courses or education provider but there are some things to keep in mind before making this decision.

Option 1 – I have been studying my original course for 6 months or more

If you have been studying your original course for six months or more and wish to change to a same or higher level at your current institution, then you do not have to apply for a new student visa. Your education provider will update the Department of Home Affairs with any changes in your study situation

Option 2 – I have been studying my original course for less than 6 months

If you have been studying your original course for less than six months and want to change courses at your current education provider, then you do not have to apply for a new student visa.

There may be some documentation required before changing institutions – if you have been studying for less than six months, you will require a formal letter of release from your current institution.

If you have been studying for over six months and are changing to a same or higher-level AQF course, your education provider informs the Department of Home Affairs automatically.
